We offer Naturopathic medicine as a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes the use of evidence-based treatments and the healing power of nature and the human body.  Naturopathic doctors have a wide scope of practice and undergo extensive training to ensure the practice of safe, standard of care medicine, and are trained to select the most effective yet least invasive treatment for each case.  Naturopathic doctors use a variety of techniques, including nutrition and lifestyle counselling, IV Vitamin Therapy, acupuncture,  lab testing, as well as physical and/or herbal medicine to address the root causes of illness and support the body's ability to heal itself.

Naturopathy at Acupoint Wellness takes a patient-centered approach to care, and will work closely with you to understand your unique needs to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to you. This approach can be beneficial for those who are seeking a more natural, holistic approach to healthcare.

How it works

In your initial visit to Acupoint's downtown Vancouver clinic, your Naturopathic doctor will go through a comprehensive health history to gain as much insight into your health as possible. The initial consult will include an evaluation of your specific health goals, and from there an individualized treatment plan will be developed. Your Naturopathic doctor work alongside you take on the role of not only doctor, but teacher as well.

Follow up treatment will depend on each specific case, however standard follow up appointments are usually 30 minutes.

How it works

It is a good idea to come prepared to talk about your medical history. It may be helpful to write down relevant information about your health, including current symptoms, medications, allergies, and previous treatments and any questions you may have for the doctor. It is also a good idea to think about the goals you hope to achieve from your appointment(s).

We also recommend reviewing your extended benefit plan. Many will have coverage for naturopathic medicine, but each plan is specific between the employer and provider.  Check with your specific plan to see specifics regarding your coverage.

How it works

After your appointment, it is important to get any testing done that the doctor has requested.  A follow-up appointment will need to be scheduled to talk about your results and your tailored treatment plans.  This may include taking certain supplements or herbs, making dietary changes, and incorporating specific lifestyle modifications.

It is also important to keep any scheduled follow-up appointments with the naturopathic doctor to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. Additionally, you should continue to communicate with your naturopathic doctor about any questions or concerns you may have.
