Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a non-invasive procedure that utilizes tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin's surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the skin's natural healing response, triggering collagen and elastin production. The result is improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, diminished acne scars, and a more even skin tone.

This versatile treatment can address a variety of skin concerns. It is particularly effective in treating signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Additionally, microneedling can improve the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. It is suitable for all skin types and can be performed on the face, neck, décolletage, and other areas of the body.
On the day of your microneedling session, your practitioner will thoroughly cleanse and prepare your skin. They will apply a topical numbing cream to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. The microneedling device, which consists of fine needles, will be gently stamped over the treatment area. The depth of needle penetration will be adjusted based on your skin's specific needs and sensitivity.
During the treatment, you may experience a mild tingling or prickling sensation, but the numbing cream helps minimize any discomfort. After the session, your skin may appear slightly red or have a sunburn-like sensation, which is a normal and temporary reaction. Your practitioner will apply a soothing serum or moisturizer to help calm the skin and enhance the healing process.
To prepare for a microneedling session, there are a few important steps to follow: avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least one week prior to your appointment to prevent skin sensitivity. Discontinue the use of exfoliating skincare products, chemical peels, and retinoids for about a week before the session to avoid skin irritation. Consult with your healthcare provider regarding any blood-thinning medications or supplements you may be taking. In some cases, it may be necessary to temporarily discontinue them to reduce the risk of bruising or bleeding during the procedure. Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup, oils, and heavy creams, and wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area.
In the days following your microneedling treatment, you may notice some mild skin flaking or peeling as part of the skin's natural renewal process. It is essential to protect your skin from sun exposure and avoid harsh skincare products during this time. Your practitioner will provide detailed aftercare instructions, including gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and the use of sunscreen.
For optimal results, a series of microneedling sessions may be recommended, typically spaced a few weeks apart. This allows for the gradual improvement and regeneration of your skin. Your practitioner will monitor your progress and make personalized recommendations based on your individual needs.
