With attention to the body’s joints, muscles, spine, bones, nerves and organs, the osteopath looks at how everything is aligned and functioning together. Like in acupuncture, the osteopath tunes into your body, but uses gentle, intuitive movements and stretches to bring everything to centre. With each movement, every part of you is being looked at from head to toe.
Manual osteopathy treatments are quite relaxing, like a nice stretch session, but someone is doing the work for you. It’s more dynamic than a massage and you are fully clothed. There are similarities to chiropractic, but there are no high-velocity manipulations of the spine or cracking sounds.
Techniques that might be used in a manual osteopathy session include:

- Myofascial release
- Active release
- Trigger point release
We are asking clients to arrive right on time for appointments. For your first appointment please ensure that you have filled out both your intake form and your COVID-19 screening form that were emailed to you. Wear comfortable clothing if you can. Eat a light snack before your appointment or have one handy after in case you feel you need nourishment.
It’s common to feel deeply relaxed and peaceful after a session. Take time to stay present with these sensations as they carry forward into your day or evening.
It’s important to stay well hydrated after a treatment. While it’s okay to carry on with your daily activities or exercise routine after a session, we recommend taking it easy. You may experience a little fatigue, and in some rare cases very mild flu-like symptoms (aching, headache) — all signs of your body’s natural healing and detoxification process.
