We recently welcomed Osteopathic Manual Practitioner Nora Saeedeh Shahbazi to Acupoint Wellness. Nora’s warm demeanor and effective treatments have already garnered her a loyal clientele base. Her treatments are a combination of stretching, joint mobilizations, and massage techniques to help the body align and bring it into balance.
How did you decide to become an osteopathic manual practitioner?
Eleven years ago, I was suffering from back-pain in a way that I could not stand or walk for more than 15 minutes. The X-ray result showed that I had a disc protrusion. I’ve been always interested in non-pharmacological treatments instead of chemical drugs, so I sought out the help of a manual therapist. By the fourth treatment, I was shocked, I was able to resume my daily activities — and by the tenth session in a two-week span, my pain had completely disappeared!
The results were so significant that I decided to become a therapist to be able to heal other people’s pain with the most natural and simple treatments one can imagine.
Why do you love what you do?
I have been always interested in non-pharmacological treatments and now it gives me great joy to be able to heal pain only with my own hands techniques. When I see my clients feel good after every single treatment, it warms my heart.
What types of health issues do you especially enjoy treating?
It is difficult for me to choose because healing is my passion in general. But I have a lot of success in relieving back pain, neck pain, and relieving tension from the body as a whole. Perhaps because my osteopathic journey started with my own back pains!
How does someone say they feel after having a treatment with you?
“My pain is halved.”
“I feel lighter.”
“I don’t want this treatment session to end.”
“I feel more relaxed now.”
Such nice things to hear!
What is your philosophy on health?
In this busy life that we have, it’s a good idea to pay more attention to our body and remember that without a healthy body, we cannot enjoy our life. We should use tools available to us to make our body and our mind healthier.
What is your morning ritual?
I love to get up very early in the morning at about six o’clock when my son wakes up. We go for a little walk and then I prepare breakfast and school bags for my kids as we talk. This is usually the beginning of my day before I go to work.
What do you do for your own self care?
I eat healthy foods, I get lots of sleep, and I avoid drugs and alcohol. And do things that MAKE ME FEEL HAPPY, such as helping children in need.
Share some random facts about yourself:
I love art and I do calligraphy. I love nature. I am scared of moths. I am good at solving my problems! I like to sleep under the stars.
What is your favourite healthy food that you make for yourself? Or comfort food?
Meatballs with rice cobs and fragrant vegetables. Mixed salad.
Favourite indulgence?
Going to Harrison Hot Springs. Cycling in a beautiful environment and swimming in hot water, and lying down to check my phone. 😉 Or going to camping and waking up early in the morning, drinking tea while taking in nature.
What do you do to relieve stress?
I light a nice candle. I talk with one of my close friends. I make tea and like listen to music or watch a documentary.
